The Apothecarist is responsible for bringing to life the founder’s vision of creating high-quality herbal medicines by mindfully managing the day-to-day workflow in our production kitchen. The manufacture of our tinctures, elixirs, and glycerites encompass responsibilities ranging from planning to pressing and include: cGMP documentation of production activities, use and maintenance of grinding, pressing, and filling equipment, and the upkeep of production databases.
This role will transition over time to include collaborating on envisioning the spiritual direction of Avena and the Herbal Classroom, including the potential opportunity to teach and mentor BIPOC apothecary apprentices in forthcoming Herbal Classroom programming.

Applicants should have:
- Experience working with medicinal herbs
- Comfort working in a commercial kitchen
- Gardening experience
- Knowledge of PC computer systems and Microsoft Office
The Apothecarist is a year-round, full-time position (24-32 hours weekly) based in Rockport, Maine.
