JOB FILLED - National Sales Manager, Excess, Obsolete and Business Development

The National Sales Manager, excess, obsolete and business development is charged with leading and driving the excess and obsolete selling process across the organization.  Additionally, will work on identifying and planning a business development strategy across new channels of distribution.  The successful candidate must possess a broad set of skills including financial and planning skills, customer experience in close out markets, strong leadership, and the ability to influence across the broader organization. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Accounting and finance to determine reserve quantities each month
  • Identify key items for urgent action and proactive action to relieve risk
  • Build a monthly sales plan with each cycle with tactics, pricing, and channels to liquidate urgent dated inventory
  • Build and maintain a tracking document that measures progress against key items each monthly cycle by customer, items, and salesperson
  • Drive and lead negotiations with key tertiary customers such as TJ Max, Ross, Burlington, grocery liquidators and other id’d closeout customers
  • Work with key sales leads to identify current customers and channels to help liquidate at risk inventory
  • Meet assigned budgets on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis for SLOB
  • Work with operations to create an inventory management process for managing close dated inventory both storage and shipping to ensure correct channels and customers receive the correct dating inventory
  • Create a business development living strategy that is updated yearly
  • Do research and analytics on prospective business development opportunities
  • Work with field sales and HQ personnel to sell into new channels including planning, pricing, product development, forecasting and supply chain readiness

Educational Degree and Required Experience:
Bachelor's degree with +5 years of progressive responsibility managing customers and sales planning/customer marketing.  Strong analytical skills, ability to analyze syndicated data, POS data, trade spends with focus on sales and profit. Must possess excellent communications skills and computer skills with understanding of MS Excel, PowerPoint & MS Word.
