SUPERVISOR: Washington Sales Manager

Grass Roots Marketing is a full-service natural food brokerage serving the Pacific Northwest and Southern Pacific Regions.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
A Retail Merchandiser is responsible for merchandising and assisting in sales duties in assigned geographical areas and/or key accounts. Ensure that a company's products are properly displayed and stocked in retail stores, with the goal of maximizing sales. They manage shelf placement, maintain shelves and build display’s. They assist in all required resets and new store openings, they ensure new approved placements, and promotional plans, and programs are in place, and report any non-compliance at store level to Sales Manager.

The Retail Merchandiser will create partnering relationships with vendors and retailers that is based in trust, integrity, customer satisfaction and loyalty.

The Retail Merchandiser position is 25% Sales, 75% Merchandising 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring products are stocked, placed in the correct locations, and priced accurately. 
  • Participate in all required retailer resets and store openings.
  • Building attractive displays, resetting coolers, and ensuring brand visual identity is consistent. 
  • Conduct routine store visits with existing retail accounts; ensuring new placements, retail promotions are in accordance with client’s goals placement allowances.
  • Execute merchandising of product according to retailer planograms/schematics if required and assist in eye level or optimal placement of GRM vendor products to increase sales, profits, market share .
  • Take audit pictures of new placement, void closures, and case stacks and submit to GRM Vendor Pic Dropbox file.
  • Complete special projects as required.
  • Coordinate necessary meetings and communication, both internal and external, to address any issues relating to servicing the territory.
  • Ensure interactions with retail staff and other merchandisers are done in a professional and effective manner.
  • Attend trade functions and represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Accurately complete and submit required reports in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent related experience. Valid driver's license necessary.
  • Auto insurance levels that meet or exceed state minimum requirements

Experience:

  • Retail Merchandising 
  • Prior customer service experience in a retail setting. Familiarity with sales opportunities.
  • Computers - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Other:

  • Organization skills and attention to detail. 
  • Basic math abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions from GRM Sales Manager or Store Managers.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Able to manage and coordinate projects.
  • Comfortable in a highly open, dynamic and collaborative company culture. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, sales team environment.
  • The ability to exceed at; customer service skills, problem solving, attention to detail and organizational skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to get in and out of car multiple times per day and able to spend up to  40% of the day in the car traveling to and from accounts safely in city, rural and expressway conditions.
  • Ability to set up displays, fixtures, shelving and products.
  • Ability to sit, bend, kneel, and stand on hard floors for extended periods of time.
  • Able to tolerate exposure to store and warehouse conditions including wide variances in temperature (refrigerator walk-ins and freezer walk-ins), dust and dirt. 
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
