We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our team in Salinas, CA.

As Controller, you will play a critical role in guiding the financial health and strategic direction of our company. You will oversee all aspects of accounting, finance, and reporting, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving financial efficiency, optimizing resource allocation, and supporting our long-term growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership: 

  • Manage financial accounting processes and reporting, including monthly, quarterly and annual close, to ensure proper recognition of revenue, costs, assets and liabilities in accordance with US GAAP and local regulatory requirements. 
  • Consistently enhance controls and business solutions designed to mitigate financial risk.
  • Profit Center reporting by Business operations
  • Monthly Financial statement reporting and analysis
  • Budget vs. Actual & Forecasts

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Detailed Financial Presentations: Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analysis, for presentation at board meetings.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Leverage financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, providing actionable recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ad-hoc Reporting: Respond to ad-hoc requests for financial information and analysis from executives, board members, and other stakeholders.

Strategic Advice and Consulting:

  • Business Strategy: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and assess financial risks, developing mitigation strategies to protect the company's assets and profitability.
  • Investment Analysis: Evaluate potential investment opportunities and provide financial projections to support decision-making.
  • Cost-Benefit Analysis: Conduct cost-benefit analyses to assess the financial implications of proposed initiatives and projects.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Provide financial due diligence and analysis to support mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.

Team Management:

  • Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing finance team.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Ensure team members have the necessary tools and resources to succeed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager.
  • Strong understanding of banking processes, financial data analysis, and GAAP reporting.
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
  • Experience in managing payroll and streamlining accounting processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Famous Software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in finance or accounting.
  • Experience in the agriculture or related industry.

Salary: $160,000 - $225,000 based on experience
