A little about this role:

The Trade Promotion Services Specialist (TPS Specialist) is responsible for the inputting and reconciliation of promotional events (wholesale and retail) within trade software for their assigned Principal. The reconciliation and clearing of promotional events require advanced excel skills, utilization of clearing software and macros, logical reasoning and a sound understanding of the industry.

 

A day in the life:

  • Trade Software Management – as a TPS Specialist, you will input promotional events (wholesale and retail), reconcile, and clear deductions within trade software in a timely manner to accurately forecast trade accruals and open balances for your assigned business unit. The clients customized software or a recognized software platform will be utilized. As a TPS Specialist you will be working with a multiband portfolio for a single client. This requires an understanding of brand promotional groups and pricing strategies for each brand within the portfolio. An understanding of case rates, volume forecasts and brand intricacies to accurately forecast trade accruals is required. An understanding of Trade and Non-Trade classifications is needed. The position further requires an understanding of wholesale and retail classifications such as Direct and In-direct as well as understanding strategic retailers versus Planning Accounts and All other accounts.
  • Communication - you are expected to have value-added, solution-oriented, positive and timely communication (both internally and externally). Deductions Coordinators regularly organize and conduct conference calls with the assigned manufacturer partner and other departments to get the appropriate information needed to make a sound decision. You are also required to provide weekly update reporting within the departmental guidelines. Conducting monthly calls with the brands finance and executive level Sales Management is also expected.
  • Reporting/Analytics – Responsible to follow interdepartmental protocols for organizing all relevant reports (MCB, indirect & direct invoices) into proper clearing accounts utilizing macros and clearing tools. This position is responsible to monitor aging reports, open balances and dispute repayments.
  • Dispute Resolution – knowing your business, you’ll exercise discretion and judgement to dispute and secure repayment of unauthorized deductions. To conduct successfully you will be required to work with wholesale and retail finance and retail personnel.

What we are looking for:

  • Background or experience in trade spend software programs, such as AFS /MEI, Adesso, Plan It, Cresicor etc. is required
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Advanced level in Microsoft platforms is required with an emphasis on Excel (i.e. Pivot Tables, V-lookup, etc.)
  • Experience Working with large data sets and moving large sets is required
  • Knowledge of the Natural and Conventional Wholesale and Retail Accounts promotional processes is helpful
  • Familiarity with databases is required with OneNote and SharePoint experience helpful
  • Discretion when working with confidential information
  • A high level of attention to detail, while remaining focused on the big picture
  • Flexibility to successfully multi-task in a fast-paced environment managing time and meeting established deadlines
  • Outstanding organizational and follow-up skills are mandatory
