Job Description: 

High-Quality Nutritional Supplement Manufacturer Florida Supplement was founded in 1995 and today stands as a market leading nutraceutical manufacturing and packaging company. We formulate, manufacture, and package nutritional supplements in tablets, capsules, soft-gels, and powder blends.

Position Objective:
As the Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for the negotiating contracts and formulating with suppliers. Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies. Locate vendors of materials, equipment of supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales. Prepare and process requisition and purchase orders for raw material. This position is performed at our headquarters in Miramar, FL.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Manages and coordinates activities of buyers and support staff engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies in industrial plant, public utility, or other organization.
  • Establishes purchasing policies and procedures and directs purchasing programs accordingly.
  • Establishes procedures to accomplish procurement of a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner.
  • Prepares and assigns purchase orders and change notices to purchasing agents.
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports.
  • Keeps informed of economic, industrial and other trends that affect markets, prices, and delivery conditions.
  • Reviews and monitors requisitions, supply sources, supplies, quotations, terms, etc. Recommends major purchases of materials on the basis of anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability situations.
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. Participates in contract negotiations and vendor selection.
  • Monitors performance and capabilities of vendors to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality, and price commitments.
  • Develops and installs clerical and office procedures and practices, and studies workflow, sequence of operations, and office arrangement to determine expediency of installing new or improved office machines.
  • Arranges for disposal of surplus materials. Hires, trains new staff members, and supervises and evaluates job performance of purchasing department personnel.
  • Acts as a liaison in dealings between vendors and user departments when necessary.
  • Follows and ensures personnel complies with established procedures including standard operating procedures (SOP’s), cGMP, food safety regulations and safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA (Minimal Technical Requirements)

  • Previous Related Experience Required: 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Nutraceutical or pharmaceutical preferred but not required.
  • Technical Skills Required to Perform this Job: Ability to use Microsoft Office Program, MRP Software systems (e.g., AS400).
  • Ability to communicate clearly both written and verbal. Proficient in the use of calculations for ordering increments and costs.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
