We can also formulate botanical products from scratch or match existing recipe.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Earth Lab Botanicals has an immediate opening for a part-time, 25 hours per week Product Formulator to work offsite. The formulator will interact with potential clients seeking manufacture of new products as well as revisions of current product formulas. Work with these clients to determine product needs and provide suggestions for product formula that would accommodate those needs. Will work with R&D personnel to ensure formulations proposed to clients are within ELB capabilities and will work with Quality Management to verify that proposed formulations will be regulatorily compliant.

This position will require a strong chemistry background, as well as ability to interact with clients as needed, and creativity to propose solutions to formulation problems that arise through R&D stages. Experience with Smartsheets is a plus, as well as experience related to formulation of herbal or vitamin supplements specifically. A firm grasp of mathematics related to formulation will be essential to this role.

WORKS CLOSELY WITH:
Senior Quality Manager, Quality Team, Operations Team, Sales Team, Executive Team

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Create product formulas upon request. Product formulas will range from ingested herbal or vitamin products to topical products. Some formula requests will involve CBD ingredients.
  • Work with R&D team to troubleshoot issues in formulation or blending of existing formulas
  • Extrapolate batch requirements based upon product formulation
  • Work with the Quality Team to adjust product formula based upon regulatory requirements
  • Work with Quality as needed to troubleshoot batch problems and identify issues in production as related to product formulas
  • Manage client communication and documentation for formulation discussions
  • Be available to work with clients remotely by e-mail, phone, and occasionally webcam
  • Maintain tracking of product formula versions for clients, ensuring tracking of changes, particularly those changes that are in response to issues discovered during R&D
  • Assist in the quoting process for new contract customers
  • Requires effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively deal with managing a variety of tasks concurrently.
