Vitality Works is looking for a motivated and dedicated individual for our Production Development Tech I – Herbal Manufacturing position. This is an entry level role that holds great potential to grow within our herbal/nutraceutical/holistic product development team.
The ideal candidate should be able to successfully work within the Product Development team, as a helper and assistant to the development and launch of new products, such as those seen in small businesses and large food retailers.
As an entry level role, this role will foster great industry knowledge and professional growth as you will working with Nutraceutical/Herbal subject matter experts as well as working directly with Vitality Work’s owner & founder.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop, edit and review master formula sheets prior to manufacturing.
- Set up new items and Bill of Materials (BOM’s) in Master Requirements Plan/Enterprise Resource Planning (MRP/ERP) system.
- Source new and existing raw materials and packaging for projects as needed.
- Set up formula costing and customer proposals; research and data entry of raw material costs.
- Prepare prototypes for customer review and for formulation stability.
- Trouble-shooting and problem solving on formulation or other product development issues.
- Manage encapsulation powder development through evaluations of powders scheduled for encapsulation and the maintenance/collection of encapsulation data.
- Communicating and problem solving with encapsulation supervisor and technicians to support production as needed.
- Trouble-shooting and problem solving on formulation or other product development or quality control issues.
- Maintain product development documentation, tracking information and communicating project progress to team.
- Prepare specification sheets for new and existing products.
- Chase various resources both internal and external for status, work through obstacles and report status to the team.
- Stay abreast of industry news, trade shows, periodicals, trends, FDA communications and industry regulations.
- Work with other departments in communicating product information and new product launches.
- Using your expert knowledge and industry experience, research trends and product information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong math, written and verbal communication, proof reading and attention to detail required.
- Use a personal computer, various MS software.
- Ability to multi-task, revise and interact with all levels of the organization.
Requirements:
- Education: Minimum Bachelors of Science or related field and/or experience in product development in the herbal and dietary industry.
- Experience: 1 + years in product development in an herbal, dietary, botanical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic or other manufacturing type environment preferred but not required
- Physical: Typical of an office environment and PC work station.
