Job Description: 

A dynamic organization in Monterey County is seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead key HR initiatives, foster an inclusive and engaging workplace culture, and ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies. This role will be instrumental in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and HR strategy, supporting operational leaders in building high-performing teams. The HR Manager will also help administer collective bargaining agreements and drive initiatives that align with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employee & Workplace Culture: Promote a positive work environment, ensuring employee engagement and retention strategies align with organizational goals. Advocate for fair and transparent HR practices that enhance employee experience.
  • Leadership & Compliance Support: Serve as a trusted advisor to managers, providing guidance on employment law, policy interpretation, and best practices. Ensure compliance with ADA, FMLA, EEOC, FLSA, Title VII, and other relevant regulations.
  • Talent Acquisition & Retention: Oversee recruitment efforts, develop staffing strategies, manage onboarding processes, and implement performance development plans.
  • Training & Development: Facilitate training sessions such as new hire orientation and leadership development. Support managers in coaching and talent development.
  • Leave & Benefits Administration: Manage leave requests, participate in ADA interactive discussions, and provide support for workers' compensation programs.
  • HR Strategy & Change Management: Drive HR communications, change initiatives, and engagement campaigns to support company-wide objectives.
  • Data & Documentation Management: Maintain accurate personnel records, including staffing, grievances, disciplinary actions, and compliance documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment & Travel:

  • Onsite Role: This position is required to maintain onsite presence with frequent interaction across multiple locations, including corporate offices and operational sites. (no hybrid/remote option)
  • Travel: 10-15% within Monterey County and nearby regions.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in an HR managerial role, overseeing HR functions such as employee relations, compliance, talent management, and leadership coaching.
  • Certifications: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification preferred.
  • HR Expertise: Strong knowledge of HR fundamentals, employment law, and best practices. Experience in union environments and affirmative action compliance preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS systems; effective communication, presentation, and coaching skills.
  • Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salary Range: $90,000 - $115,000 (based on experience, education, and qualifications).
  • Bonus Eligibility: Annual performance-based incentive plan.
