Ingredients, also known as the supply side, are so much more than simply vitamins, minerals and herbs. Suppliers either provide generic/commodity ingredients or proprietary/branded ingredients that are also often marketed B2C to engender consumer awareness and interest, supporting its brand manufacturing partners.
Product formulations with novel delivery systems is a driving force in the ingredient arena. Brands turn to suppliers for their R&D expertise. Further, the ingredients category include contract manufacturing and packaging, as well as interrelated businesses such as equipment and lab supply.
The ingredient-supplier side of the industry is extremely dynamic, encompassing science, technology and creative marketing.
