Ingredients / Suppliers
Ingredients, also known as the supply side, are so much more than simply vitamins, minerals and herbs. Growth areas include probiotics/prebiotics, plant-based nutrients, and naturally derived colors and flavors as well as healthy sweeteners. As you might imagine, the full list of ingredients is immense and growing!
Dietary supplements and functional foods/beverages all begin at the ingredient supplier level. This vast area of commerce encompasses research (in vitro, in vivo and human clinical trials), sourcing raw materials throughout the globe, testing the materials for authenticity, safety, purity and for standardization (if botanical based).
Suppliers either provide generic/commodity ingredients or proprietary/branded ingredients that are also often marketed B2C to engender consumer awareness and interest, supporting its brand manufacturing partners.
Product formulations with novel delivery systems is a driving force in the ingredient arena. Brands turn to suppliers for their R&D expertise. Further, the ingredients category include contract manufacturing and packaging, as well as interrelated businesses such as equipment and lab supply.

Careers within the ingredient category may include but are not limited to R&D jobs, sales jobs, purchasing jobs, marketing jobs, production jobs, formulator jobs, scientist and chemist jobs, logistics jobs and many more.
