Our Story
Our ‘Why’ is built on a grandfather’s love and his fearless drive to help his granddaughter, whose health was severely impacted by a debilitating disease called Dravet Syndrome, which results in severe and uncontrollable seizures. When conventional medicine failed to improve his granddaughter Kaitlin’s condition, our founder Barry Lambert turned to cannabis (illegal at the time) out of desperation. Using specialized cannabinoids, her seizures decreased from multiple times per day to now being largely seizure free. The incredible healing power that Barry witnessed drove him to invest in research, enable access and to develop innovative and effective cannabinoid products so that others could benefit as well.
Using our own genetics, we were one of the very first companies to begin planting hemp for cannabinoid research after the passing of the Farm Bill in 2014. Despite initial DEA seizures and legal battles, our relentless drive to use cannabinoids to improve health outcomes persevered and enabled us to generate the necessary cannabinoid material that resulted our 5 Investigational New Drug (IND) registrations for research – more than any other brand today. To date, Ananda Professional has spent millions of dollars on clinical research with 5 INDs and several NIH-funded studies using our product. In addition to INDs, Ananda Professional is always leveraging our vast seed-bank of hemp cultivars to understand the role and outcomes of minor cannabinoids such as CBN, CBG, and CBDa.
With the signing of the 2014 Farm Bill, Ananda Professional imported compliant hemp seeds that were seized by the DEA. After a lawsuit, Ananda Professional received its seed and planted our first crops in Central Kentucky. At the same time, a well-known businessman in Australia found that CBD helped his granddaughter with Dravet Syndrome (seizures). This businessman, Barry Lambert, sought out to invest in a company whose mission is to improve access and to develop innovation with cannabinoids so that others could benefit from the hemp plant. Fast-forward to when the 2018 Fam Bill made industrial hemp products federally legal, Ananda Professional was launched to recognized the power of cannabinoids and developed the brand known today for Independent Pharmacies nationwide – leveraging the knowledge base and research that had been built.
To service the Independent Pharmacy space, Ananda Professional built an inside sales team focusing on educating and training pharmacy owners and staff. In 2020, during the heart of Covid, Ananda Professional opened a new, LEED-Platinum facility in Georgetown, KY that brought the sales, marketing, and operations teams together under one 50,000 sq. ft. roof. And since moving to this new facility, Ananda Professional has focused on building the foundation needed to enter the Practitioner channel.
Beginning in 2019, Ananda Professional started its impressive research portfolio. With INDs authorized from the FDA, Ananda Professional products were studied for their effectiveness and safety on a variety of patient populations. To date, Ananda Professional has spent millions of dollars on clinical research with 5 INDs and several NIH-funded studies using their product. In addition to INDs, Ananda Professional is always leveraging their vast seedbank of hemp cultivars to understand the role and outcomes of minor cannabinoids such as CBN, CBG, and CBDa.
From feedback while presenting at A4M in 2022, Ananda Professional began development on a new range of condition-specific products lead by Chief Marketing Officer, Neal Mercado. Launched in early 2023, these new products provide practitioners with condition-specific cannabinoid profiles in conjunction with other well-researched botanical and natural ingredients. Offered in both liquid and gummy formulations, these products are driving desired patient outcomes in both Independent Pharmacy and Functional Medicine.

In the rolling hills of Central Kentucky, Ananda Professional is located in Georgetown, KY. About an hour from Cincinnati and Louisville and only 20 minutes from Lexington, KY, the LEED-Platinum building is home to the sales, marketing, finance, and manufacturing teams.
Only 20 minutes from the fields in which the hemp is grown, the building acts as a destination for politicians, partners, and customers to learn about all facets of hemp including its sustainability, clinical applications, and industrial uses.
