We're seeking a talented Buyer to join our dynamic team in Union City, CA. The Buyer is responsible for purchasing and procuring perishable agricultural commodities within designated categories. Acting as the primary contact for producers, this role works closely with inventory, receiving, quality assurance, and transportation teams to secure the right products at the best prices and in the right quantities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and procure high-quality products within assigned categories.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing and manage supplier relationships.
  • Optimize inventory levels to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
  • Logistics Coordination-Planning inbound freight and balancing cost and delivery timeliness. 
  • Ensure timely delivery of products to meet customer demand.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and product innovation.
  • Quality Assurance working closely with the Receiving team to verify all inbound shipments are meeting quality, condition and grade standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in purchasing, inventory, or supply chain management.
  • Market Knowledge- Strong understanding of markets, pricing dynamics, and supplier management within relevant categories.
  • 2+ years of experience in the produce industry, preferably within the food, produce, or commodities industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.(Market Data, RFQ’s, purchase orders to make data driven decisions that support cost optimization.
  • Excellent communication and proven negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing and favorable supplier agreements. .
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant purchasing software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

Salary: $90-100k DOE
