Job Description: 

The Procurement Manager will develop and monitor a company’s sourcing and supply chain strategy. The main goal for this position is to improve productivity and efficiency and reduce costs while securing high quality raw material and Finished Goods for the company.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for sourcing strategic ingredients, both domestically and internationally, analyzing market trends, and seeking continual improvement of the overall efficiency of the department.
  • Review and implement contracts for the purchase of materials, services, and capital goods.
  • Sourcing multiple strategic ingredients, packaging components and Finished Goods.
  • Source various products and/or categories that are low to high complexity and spend.
  • Develop and negotiate contract terms including executing and implementing contracts.
  • Gather bid data and analyze complex supplier proposals and make award recommendations to sourcing management and business units.
  • Identify and execute cost savings initiatives that support the departments’ overall savings goal, deliver improved quality, cost, service, and innovation.
  • Support supplier transitions when required by monitoring liabilities, enabling supplier set-up, and ensuring documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Support and participate in the sourcing of Own Brands Innovation projects which include sourcing of new ingredients and packaging configurations.
  • Aid in developing and manage the company’s supply chain strategy in conjunction with management.
  • Contributes to the ongoing development of supply chain best practices across the Supply Chain and business units.
  • Support business execution of new programs and initiatives including promotional activities, and new product launches.
  • Company expert on assigned raw material pricing, including global markets, both current and future.
  • Manage supplier relationships with primary responsibility for bringing resolution on a day-to-day issue related to pricing, product availability, and ongoing projects.
  • Responsible for assessing risk of suppliers and materials and recommending risk mitigation plan.
  • Responsible for developing and executing Sourcing Strategies, leading Sourcing Events, ex: RFQ and the negotiation and contracting.
  • Partner with process counterparts to develop and utilize standardized tools and continually improve processes.
  • Manages procurement process, sourcing of materials, Finished Goods requirements planning as well as inventory levels and managing storage constraints.
  • Monitor inventory availability and movement of materials, supplies, and contract manufacturers to meet production and delivery schedules.
  • Analyze data to reduce inefficiencies from end-to-end supply processes to find bottlenecks and other areas of improvement.
  • Provides leadership and support (including data analytics, tools and process development).
  • Drive continuous cost saving opportunities on material cost, supply chain inefficiencies to maintain margin goals. Deliver against annual Total Delivered Cost, inventory plans, and service level targets.
  • Identify and execute ESG initiative goals.
  • Evaluate and report on KPIs.
  • Drive lean inventory management practices and mitigate obsolescence for raw materials.
  • Recommend and execute cost reduction initiatives by identifying and executing opportunities in purchase price variance, material usage variance and process improvements.
  • Manages staff by recruiting, selecting, training, evaluating and coaching employees.

Required Education and Experience

  • 5 + years directly related experience in strategic sourcing.
  • 2 + years Ingredient Sourcing, inclusive of botanicals, extract and commodities material categories.
  • 3 + years negotiating contracts and managing strategic partners.
  • 2 + years’ experience in CPG, VMS or Functional foods sourcing organization.
  • Experience working with legal and T&C negotiations.
  • Understanding and application of Procurement principles, concepts, practices, and standards (effective negotiation, supplier relationship management, business partnering, etc.) along with an in-depth knowledge of industry practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of supply chain processes.
  • Working experience of relevant software (e.g. SAP MM, Oracle).
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Motivated and self-directed team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must have ability to influence at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to create, implement, and sustain policies and procedures.
