The Director of Natural Sales West is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Natural sales team for the regions of Rocky Mountain, Southwest, California, and Pacific Northwest. The position is high-visibility and involves representing our client products at distributor headquarters.
The ideal candidate would have a background that includes managing a team, knowledge of the Natural retailers on the West as well as how UNFI and KeHE operate with the downstream retailers they service. A successful candidate must present themselves as a leader in the organization and possess a professional, knowledgeable, and customer-focused demeanor with the ability to influence at high levels within an organization. The position is mostly independent, so the successful candidate will be self-motivated, disciplined, and high-energy. Ability to present to both an individual and/or groups is imperative.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with VP, Natural/Specialty on national goals and objectives
- Work with VP, Natural/Specialty on new product introductions, and monthly/quarterly objectives
- Work with Account Executives to create, discuss, and implement promotional plans with their accounts
- Knowledge of how distribution pricing works, upcharges, margins, OI’s, MCB’s
- Assist in trade planning at key accounts
- Own and drive client’s growth in assigned territory
- Understand how UNFI and KeHE go to market and what a brand go to market strategy should be
- Manage, train, educate, guide, instruct and encourage Account Executives and Territory Sales Managers on an everyday basis
- Work with Account Executives and Territory Sales Mangers in the field
- Provide VP, Natural/Specialty updates on key objectives on an as needed basis
- Communicate with clients on a regular basis regarding their business in your territory
- Coordinate growth of our brands through UNFI and KeHE by working with Account Executives, Territory Sales Mangers as well as UNFI and KeHE personnel
- Coordinate sales events and regional distributor shows
- Work with sales support staff to meet administrative requirements.
- Attend National and regional Trade Shows as requested
- Manage trade show activity time to maximize key account meetings and events.
- Work closely with admin team to ensure objectives are loaded in retail software system
- Monitor and track team performance on key objectives
- Report all personal and trade-related expenses for company reimbursement
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Use internal and external data to prepare for presentations and recaps to clients
Qualifications, Experience, and Interests:

- BA/BS from an accredited college or university preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of four to six (4-6) years of CPG/Retail B2B Sales experience, either with a food & beverage broker or manufacture
- Minimum of four to six (4-6) years of demonstrated, successful leadership of a team.
- Proven track-record in working with a headquarter account on presentations, development, and closing skills
- Must possess a valid driver license and reliable transportation as position will require travel to multiple sites.
- Must have the ability to travel (including overnight(s)) up to 25% of the time.
- Must possess excellent organization skills and have a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
- Must be attentive to detail and accurate.
- Ability to make presentations coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with peers and management teams.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Must be able to think outside the box, bring creative solutions to the table
- Must be computer literate with a high degree of proficiency in Windows and related software applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, database management, client/customer
- portals, etc.
- Must be able to operate a calculator, computer, printer, telephone and copy machine.
