Job Description: 

Overview

The Director-Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Operations is responsible for planning, supervision, and coordination of all activities within the manufacturing operations including implementing policies and procedures designed to meet internal, client and regulatory requirements.

 

Job function:

  • Manage daily operations and personnel across the following sub-processes: 1. Dry blending, 2. Solid-dose manufacturing – compression and encapsulation; 3. Coating, 4. Liquid manufacturing; 5. Packaging
  • Organize personnel in respective departments, implement appropriate key performance indicators, conduct appropriate training, and manage staffing needs across two shifts
  • Manage production schedule in coordination with supply chain and customer service
  • Operate and manage a budget with the following objectives: increase output, shorten lead times while maintain inventory levels, reduce manufacturing overhead costs resulting in production efficiencies 
  • Implement improved procedures to streamline operations and reduce quality deficiencies 
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues in conjunction with product development/R&D and support QA as needed

 

Qualifications:

The candidate is expected to bring a high-degree of value to the company through industry experience, and knowledge from the first day. An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience managing the production and manufacturing operations of an entrepreneurial dietary supplement manufacturing company. Primary experience should pertain to the production of solid dosages and powders, and secondarily of primary packaging and liquid production. 
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing procedures & equipment for solid dosage manufacturing, including compression, encapsulation, blending and coating. 
  • Knowledge of industry cGMPs and lean manufacturing principles 
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams commonly found in a manufacturing organization
  • Knowledge of manufacturing information systems is preferred
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Experienced, yet energetic, and innovative.
  • Entrepreneurial and small business experience is a plus. Engineering background also a plus.
