The Demand Planner will play an essential role in the supply chain of the company. This position will use the analytical, marketing, and sales data of a company to effectively estimate future product demands. Demand Planner is accountable for statistical models, sales forecasting, business intelligence/analytics, volume projections, process improvement, inventory planning, product supply strategies, and sourcing to ensure the business meets agreed customer service targets.

Essential Functions: 

  • Develop demand forecast plan at multiple levels of aggregation for rolling 18 months.
  • Manage end to end demand forecasting (both volume and value) across multiple categories to improve customer service levels and to reduce end-to-end COGS and working capital.
  • Prepare, monitor, and publish forecast KPI’s (WMAPE, Bias, Fill Rate, Inventory Design and Targets, Planning Scorecard) on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, taking corrective actions, as necessary.
  • Interact with sales, marketing, and customer finance to understand demand forecast drivers.
  • Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with Sales, Marketing and Customer Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
  • Drive Key Customer Demand Planning calls to include in the volume plan expectations for coming months.
  • Lead monthly S&OP Demand Meeting with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operations teams to validate and adjust current fiscal year forecasts, gaining full alignment with business owners and executive management.
  •  Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
  • Created a formal planning process by determining the model that is most appropriate for each SKU based on velocity.
  • Develop a sales forecast rollup by business from individual SKU level forecasts to support discussions at the monthly meetings with Marketing, Sales and Finance.
  • Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.
  • Use and maintain the Demand Planning software as the primary forecasting system tool.
  • Provide input to the Supply Planning organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
  • Closely coordinate and communicate customer action plans with supply planning.

  • Present, solicit, and assess feedback on the various forecasts from sales, and finance.
  • Recommend adjustments for operational forecasts.
  • Review promotional plans with sales.
  • Achieve consensus for operational demand forecasts by facilitating a collaborative planning process with sales, marketing, and finance personnel. 
  • Prepare relevant material to facilitate research and discussion.
  • Provide input to volume planning (Latest Estimates / annual process).
  • Facilitate and manage demand planning/customer meetings.
  • Achieve consensus with the business side and the demand chain.
  • Maintain demand planning system and software.
  • Enter and modify data and ensure the correctness of product hierarchy.
  • Monitor trends in forecast error.
  • Identify relevant market-related data and competitive intelligence.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant reports pertaining to demand planning process.
