JOB FILLED - General Manager

Job Description: 
Sno-Isle Food Co-op, in beautiful Everett, WA, is seeking a new General Manager to manage the details and big picture of a fast-paced retail operation, in coordination with the Co-op’s Board of Trustees. The ideal candidate:

The role of the General Manager (GM) is to lead the Co-op to achieve the goals and objectives set by the Board of Trustees. This includes working to ensure the realization of the Co-op’s vision and mission, while maintaining its business success. The GM manages the Co-op within the guidelines of policy governance and adheres to the standards of the cooperative business model and the Co-op’s code of conduct. The GM will lead employees and department managers through all aspects of business operations. The GM participates in all Board of Trustee meetings and in sub-committee meetings as needed. This position cannot be performed remotely.

The Co-op is seeking to expand, and will require experienced leadership to guide the expansion and successfully transition to a larger store footprint, while ensuring the continued financial well-being of the Co-op and maintaining day-to-day store operations.

The compensation range is $55,000 to $80,000, depending on the candidate’s experience and extent to which they meet the qualifications. Required Qualifications:
This position requires significant experience in retail management (or equivalent academic or related experience) that demonstrates the candidate’s ability to meet the day-to-day requirements of this position and lead the Co-op and its staff through future changes, including expansion, in close collaboration with the Board. The following qualifications are also required:
 
Experience:
  • Managing, or working in, the following functions: grocery operations, marketing, information technology (IT), accounting and human resources (HR)
  • Managing people in a way that motivates performance and creates a positive work environment.
  • Building and leading motivated, high-performing teams
  • Applying financial ratios and key indicators to drive performance.
Ability to:
  • Read, understand, and explain the Co-op’s financial statements, how they interact with each other, and how they relate to the Co=op’s performance and viability
  • Produce budgets (operating, capital, cash) and financial reports (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements).
  • Communicate effectively to all stakeholders, orally and in writing.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and demands in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Efficiently respond to, prioritize, and follow through on complex jobs and multiple tasks.
  • Proactively solve problems.
Skills:
  • Emotional intelligence, self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivations, empathy, and social aptitude.
  • Confident user of a wide range of software and technology, including Microsoft 365 applications (such as Word, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint), as well as other video chat software, Outlook and other email programs, QuickBooks, and Time Clock; able to quickly learn and adapt to new software and software upgrades.
  • Advance user of Microsoft Excel preferred.
