JOB FILLED - Staff Accountant

Job Description: 

The Staff Accountant is involved in all accounting tasks related to AR, AP, and Payroll including journal entries month-end close and periodic reporting. This position has an array of responsibility, from transactional to dealing with customers or clients, and requires an individual that can function well in a “roll up your sleeves” type of environment. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in managing the earned income and deductions program with retail food distributors and is essential in helping to support the overall cash flow of the Company. The structure of the Company requires keeping an eye on all customer, supplier, and customer accounts across multiple entities – both Natural Food Works and its subsidiaries Tres Latin Foods and Wildmade Snacks.

The ideal candidate will be able to manage customer, client, and supplier accounts while providing meaningful information on a timely basis at various levels of reporting, including individual reporting units and consolidated company results. Prior experience with the integration of financial management software and various technology platforms, including AP/AR, Inventory, and Expense management, is desired. There is room for growth in this position, as the Company foresees future acquisition of CPG reporting units, as well as organic growth. The accounting team currently oversees all human resource and payroll compliance as well for the Company, with the support of a Professional Employment Organization (PEO).

What would make you stand out:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Related Field strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of AP/AR/GL/Inventory experience.
  • Experience managing deductions and processing trade spend for consumer brands selling into retail.
  • Experience working with retail food distributors such as UNFI and KeHE strongly preferred.
  • Quickbooks experience required.
  • It helps to be proficient with Excel, understand Google Drive/GSuite applications, and an ability to learn other programs.
  • Payroll, sales/use tax, and property tax all helpful skills.
  • Great written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work and learn rapidly and accurately, adhere to deadlines and changing demands.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Handling all accounting tasks related to AR, AP, and Payroll.
  • Journal entries, month-end close, and periodic reporting.
  • Emails and correspondence with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Payroll review and any resolution needed.
  • Assisting Controller with some tax preparation items with the external tax team.
  • Maintaining client, customer, and supplier relationships to manage AP & AR.

Compensation:
Competitive salary dependent upon experience in the range of $45,000 to $65,000, that also accrues PTO based on Company policy. Full time candidates are eligible for medical insurance coverage.
