JOB FILLED - Buyer - Global Sourcing Specialist

Job Description: 

East West Tea is seeking a talented, passionate, and experienced buyer to join our Sourcing team to do the complex work of sourcing spices and botanicals from around the world. 

As the Global Sourcing Specialist you will be responsible for managing strategic partnerships with ethically and sustainably aligned partners and procuring direct raw materials via international logistics. This role optimizes transparency within our supply chains while delivering high quality raw materials within a manufacturing environment.  In compliance with East West Tea’s sourcing strategy and guidelines, the role will maintain supplier relationships, ensure regulatory compliance, manage costs, partner cross functionally, control inventory, analyze data, and administer orders.

  • We offer competitive compensation, $60-75,000, including a generous annual bonus.

 WHAT YOU’LL OWN:
                                                        
Sustainable Sourcing (25% of time)

  • Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships to increase transparency, support social and environmental sustainability, and reduce supply chain risk
  • Support Sustainability team to implement regenerative agriculture and social sustainability projects at origin

 
Supplier Relationship Management + Innovation (25% of time)

  • Inspire continuous improvement across supplier performance metrics through effective problem solving and relationship development
  • Develop expertise on botanical and spice supply chains to inform strategic planning, risk mitigation, and buying decisions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with R&D, QA, and Marketing to launch innovative functional tea blends

 
Order Administration + Regulatory Compliance (50% of time)

  • Deliver regulatory compliance against GMPs, quality specifications, organic standards, and dietary supplement regulations 
  • Effectively mitigate risk to prevent supply interruptions while maintaining appropriate inventory levels
  • Reliably complete order administration to ensure accurate and on-time delivery
  • Travel to trade shows and origin as needed 

 
WHAT YOU KNOW AND HAVE EXPERIENCED: 

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of relevant work experience for this role
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree
  • Prior buying responsibility with similar spend responsibility; includes prior sourcing experience
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Food, Beverage or Dietary Supplement experience preferred
  • ERP experience and report writing ability
