Job Description: 

The Commercial Operations Manager plays a key role within the company and is responsible providing critical insights, streamlining operations, and providing project-based leadership and support to our Marketing organization across 2 rapidly developing areas of our fast-growing business. The position serves as an important liaison between the organization and the marketing team and supports both new and ongoing initiatives. This is a unique and exciting opportunity as this role reports directly to our Sr. Manager, Special Projects and given the continued growth of our company and consumer channel, there is significant potential for the role to evolve and grow with the organization based on business needs and demonstrated capabilities.

Key responsibilities will initially be divided across the below areas beginning with a focus on ensuring the first is running smoothly and any needed processes improvements are put in place while also quickly taking on responsibilities for the second area’s day to day operations and projects.

1. Commercial Inventory (Insights, cross-functional collaboration, process improvements, and streamlining to support our ability to continue to scale)

2. Operations and Project Management (provide day to day project-based leadership and support to internal marketing team)

DETAILS

Commercial Inventory (Insights, cross-functional collaboration, process improvements, and streamlining to support our ability to continue to scale)

  • Responsible for connecting information and insights from multiple areas of our business related to our inventory status, order flow, external fulfillment teams, and related digital media investments, and helping ensure a solid process exists for communicating that information in a timely and effective way.
  • Key deliverables include developing actionable insights from the reporting to share, implementing improvements to our operational processes to drive operational efficiency, and connecting the dots between our people and information to create value.
  • As the consumer marketing team is located outside the central supply chain reporting structure - an ability to partner with and drive results without direct reporting lines is critical. This includes close interactions with supply chain, marketing operations, fulfillment, shipping, and consumer customer service teams.
  • Additional Inventory Related Specifics
  • Consolidate and communicate key operational metrics (item availability, on-time and in-full delivery) and coordinate with third party fulfillment partner to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
  • Partner with supply chain on production planning for channel exclusive SKUs while organizing and managing execution with third party partner
  • Operations and Project Management (provide day to day project-based leadership and support to internal marketing team as directed)
  • Responsible for providing leadership and support related to the in-progress implementation of our overall project management approach.
  • Provide end to end support to facilitate day-to-day project operations that span the breadth of marketing related activities including content production, consumer website technical enhancements, subscription programs, etc., and ensures business needs are identified and best practices are monitored and followed.
  • Coordinate the delivery of consumer enhancements to ensure the initiative is delivered on time and accurately, and to business expectations
  • Identifies and partners with the right internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to clarify requirements, solve for and actively monitor and communicate project risks and issues and to ensure project planning requirements are captured, stakeholders aligned, and delivery executed as planned.

LOCATION: Remote to start and potentially monthly in office in new year TBD.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND DESIRED SKILLS

  • B.A./B.S. Degree required (preference for, but not a prerequisite, degree in complementary area (business, marketing, economics, etc.…).
  • 5+ years of overall business operations experience within the following areas: inventory/supply chain management, project management, and business operations/financial reporting.
  • Includes 3+ years of Inventory/Supply Chain experience but at a minimum, at least 1-2 years.
  • Will consider any combination of above Inventory/Supply Chain experience + any of the other below areas and minimum durations if they total up to 5+ yrs.
  • Project / Change Management: Minimum of 1 year leading people through change/implementing new processes or driving projects of some broad organizational significance.
  • Business Operations & Reporting: Minimum of 1 year of inventory/supply chain reporting, financial reporting, business operations reporting experience.
  • Time spent working in a high growth physical product-based company within or supporting the consumer marketing organization is a plus.

  • Technically savvy / enjoys learning about and working with new technology.
  • Strong computer skills, with advanced knowledge of all MS Office programs and some project management tools.
