The Position: Bakery/Operations Manager

Job Description: The operations manager will be responsible for all aspects of procurement, baking/manufacturing, packing and shipping in a fast-paced, growth-driven start up food company. The role includes direct oversight of a commercial kitchen (staffing, scheduling, implementation of best practices and quality standards, safety). The operations manager must be skilled at working with a diverse work force, possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and be able to apply data-driven, fact-based logic to solve many complex day-to-day and strategic issues.

Objective: To develop, implement and efficiently manage the entire supply chain.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Operational P & L responsibility
  • Create and implement SOPs
  • Production scheduling and capacity planning
  • Ongoing cost reduction, supplier management, and automation
  • Raw material and packaging procurement
  • Inventory control to include lot trace
  • Receiving, warehousing, shipping and logistics
  • Customer order fulfillment
  • Production, including maintenance and sanitation
  • Production efficiency, cost containment, and waste reduction
  • Design and implement quality assurance programs
  • Safety and security
  • Human resources with regards to production personnel
  • Other various responsibilities that come with an early stage operation

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates Degree (Bachelor's degree, preferred)
  • 3-5 years experience in baking food manufacturing environment
  • A minimum of 2 years experience at a manager level in a food manufacturing environment

Knowledge and Skill Required:

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word)
  • A passion for success with a "can-do", whatever it takes attitude and approach towards daily tasks required to grow the business
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Demonstrated people and leadership skills
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize daily assignments to meet deadlines
  • Assertive, confident and decisive with attention to detail to ensure accurate work
  • Self motivation and the ability to work effectively with a minimum of direct oversight
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Forklift certification a plus
  • Spanish literacy a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs.
  • This position requires the use of a commercial oven
